In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Aishwarya spoke about her journey in the industry. Talking about completing five years in the industry, Aishwarya said, “It’s been amazing! There have been ups and downs. Before the lockdown, I wasn’t working and there was a gap for a year-and-a-half. I wanted to leave but then COVID happened and then Naagin happened. So, I couldn’t go anywhere. It’s like mere Bhagya me yeh likha tha to stay here (it’s written in my destiny). I learnt a lot. If everything keeps going on smoothly, it becomes monotonous. Only, if there are ups and downs then can you value the things you have in life.”

Speaking about her learning from all these years and the shows, she quips, “The learning is only that if things keep going your way then you end up losing value. When I wasn’t working, I realised that I should leave. I started looking for higher studying options but then I got a call, things worked out and I was back to work. That’s when I realised the importance of my work: only when I didn’t have it!”

Talking about finding motivation at times when she felt like quitting, she said, “Whenever everyone reaches that phase in life- they have a way to go about with it. I always think about options, in a way that what more can I do? I am a workaholic, I hate sitting at home. I sleep for four hours and I come to work. And then suddenly- you have no work, you have nothing to do- it’s crazy! I wanted and badly needed to do something- personally, I love studying! Like I would shoot and then go for an exam and still somehow manage to stand second in class. I can study and I love it. So, I decided to pursue higher studies and go abroad or something.”

Shooting during the pandemic has been a challenge for everyone. Describing her experience, Khare said, “It’s been difficult because I started shooting just after the lockdown was lifted. But everyone has been so cooperative, all the precautions were taken. Everyone was wearing masks and the restrictions have increased. Things have become challenging but looking at it in a way that this is also an experience.”

Bhagya Lakshmi has just gone on air and it is sure to give an actor the jitters. “Oh my god, don’t even ask! And with this- it’s a different feeling because it’s a dream come true for me. Every actor has the dream of coming to Bombay and working with Ekta Kapoor. Coming from Bhopal, I and my family always dreamt of this. And every day, I have to pinch myself about this! Because I am doing what I love to do and I can see my dream coming true," she said.

She also spoke about her experience shooting with Surbhi Chandna and Sharad Malhotra. “It was great working with them. It was a lot of fun. We’ve all become friends. Naagin is a different experience altogether. It’s a big brand. Naagin is a big brand- it was a great time," she said.

Differentiating Bhagya Lakshmi from other love stories on television, she said, “It is different. It is very different. I am saying this because of the concept and story of the show. Everyone is doing great shows but the storyline here is so different from what has already been explored. Like in so many shows- they show that the lead is doing everything for her family and loved ones. But for Laxmi it’s not just about her family- it’s about anyone who is in need or is facing some problem. If someone needs her help, she will be the first person to go and help them.” She also goes into detail about the inspiration behind the character and how the character can inspire so many. “And we did a campaign with Zee where we spoke to COVID warriors. So, in a way Laxmi has been inspired by these people and Laxmi can inspire so many people. Do good deeds and don’t worry about the results and this is a character line for her. Do good work, Belief in Karma, and the rest will follow. Rishi (the male protagonist) doesn’t believe in destiny, he believes in hard work and writing your own destiny. This contrasting love story is going to be a lot of fun," she added.

Talking about the narrative of the show and whether she believes in destiny, she answers positively, “Hundred Percent! My family, my father has always taught me that I never have to think about what if it doesn’t happen, I should keep doing my work. Even in our industry- everyone says that luck matters a lot. I strongly believe everything is destined to happen, even you talking to me right now is destined to happen. I am a strong believer of destiny.”

She expressed her excitement when asked about working with Ekta Kapoor and Balaji Telefilms, “You asking me this question is giving me goosebumps. It’s amazing! When I met her first, I was doing Naagin and we had a virtual zoom call because of COVID. For Bhagya Lakshmi, I met her and she is so passionate about her work. And when she narrated the show my passion and excitement for the show just somehow multiplied. And just like I am so extremely passionate about my work, I love and I absolutely love what I do. I loved the narration and I feel so lucky to have met her. And right now, I just cannot wait for the show to go on air.”
