During a conversation with a media publication, Rani said that she had faced regionalism in the early stages of her career. Recounting an incident, the Bhojpuri actress claimed that when she had once gone to meet a big Bollywood director for a Hindi film in his office, he misbehaved with her a lot.
The actress further added that since she is a Bhojpuri actress, the director thought she will be frank. However, she further added that she immediately raised her voice at his antics and left the office.

Rani also recalled how she burst into tears after coming out of the office, simply thinking about how bad people can be. She also spoke about how the same director's name appeared in the #MeToo controversy and he got the punishment for his deeds. Apart from this, Rani also spoke about the discrimination regarding body shaming and language.
